“Greg and Bob persuaded me to get back in the saddle in 2011 (I’m not going to tell you how long it had been since I had last rode a bike!). After a few months of mostly weekend training and feeling slightly nervous I joined a group of 6 on a tour of the Picos de Europa in Spain. It was fantastic! The scenery was spectacular and I even managed what I thought would be an impossible climb (1600m up the San Glorio pass). And let’s not forget the tapas! Since then I have not looked back – I have been on tours organised by Greg and Bob to Italy and Croatia. I am certainly no boy racer but I have discovered a love for cycle touring and plan to be back in the saddle for a new adventure every year from now on!”

“I would encourage anyone to go on a cycle tour – especially one organised by Greg and Bob. They have a great instinct for what makes a true cycling adventure. For me it is about discovering new regions and seeing new sights, enjoying good food and wine and, at the same time, completing a cycling challenge. I’m actually quite new to cycling – my first tour with Greg and Bob was to the Italian Lakes in 2012 – but they have inspired me to make it my passion – I am now a fully fledged member of Verulam CC, looking forward to a week’s cycling in Majorca later this month!”

what you say dude2“I met Bob in 2000 on a group ride from London to Paris. The following year he joined me in a team of 8 planning and biking Lands End to John O’Groat and has been a key man for more than 10 years – route planning, leading and running highly successful, long distance rides for our charity Biking for Children in Care. Greg joined the team on several occasions taking on the lead rider role at short notice when we cycled the Loire Valley in France. Together we have discovered the delights and challenges of long distance bike rides across new and wonderful countryside. I can’t sing the praises of Bob and Greg too highly in this venture. I have seen the attention to detail and meticulous planning in action. On our rides together we have encountered and coped with the highs and the tricky bits and panics which are part of running group activities. Bob and Greg are excellent company in the good times and brilliant in a crisis. I have also benefitted on many an occasion when Bob’s expertise as a chef have been pressed into service!”
